Phonetics and Phonemics of American English

     This class was extremely interesting, it was given by Dr. Alison Torres. We learned about how to perceive sounds, in other words how they are made, and how to identify them in words using symbols. We learned how to identify voiced and voiceless sounds, place of articulation, Central, lateral, oral, or nasal sounds in a word, and articulatory tension.

     This class helped me understand how sounds are made which helps me know how to help non-native English language speakers pronounce different words. This will be very useful in my line of work in the future.
