Linguistics reflection
For my final essay for my linguistic class, I talked about the long history of language rooted in mythology. Mythology is a topic I like talking about and interests me very much and when I saw that one of the topics provided for the last project was about mythology, I had to pick it. I liked reading about how mythology and language connect, and I couldn’t agree more that language holds more power than we know. Without language we wouldn't have the society we have nowadays and sometimes I believe people do not understand that.
The linguistic class in general was very helpful and I learned a lot about how children and people learn a language and how language affects us daily. It was fun to learn about the symbols and ways to teach language during this class. I also found it very helpful to learn about the different sicknesses that affect language because I would need to know that in the future when I'm teaching and may get a student with these problems.
As a future teacher, I believe this class was essential and I’m glad it is needed for us to become teachers. I will use everything that was learned in this class and apply it to my future classes and hopefully be an excellent teacher. Education and language are tied together, and it is essential to learn because students learn through language. I believe it is essential to know the basics of linguistics to be able to acquire a better teaching ability.
